FLYAP Hosts 6th Annual Signing Day at WEMOCO

Spencerport – The Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP) held its 6th annual “Signing Day” at the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES in Spencerport. Several students from the WEMOCO program are earning on-the-job experience through paid co-ops and job shadows at local advanced manufacturing companies.

“Team FLYAP is happy to again host a ‘Signing Day’ on the WEMOCO campus,” said Keri Martin, RTMA’s Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator. “We are proud to partner with Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES for all six years of FLYAP’s existence to bridge the gap between employers and high school juniors and seniors interested in working in advanced manufacturing.”

The Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program was created in 2018 by the Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) in partnership with Monroe Community College (MCC). The program is the first of its kind in New York State and is also supported by the RG&E Foundation, Workforce Development Institute and others.

Since its inception, FLYAP has connected more than 875 students to nearly 150 businesses throughout the great Rochester and Finger Lakes region since 2019.
